Para 18 - قَدْ اَفْلَحَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

24.43

اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ یُزْجِیْ سَحَابًا ثُمَّ یُؤَلِّفُ بَیْنَهٗ ثُمَّ یَجْعَلُهٗ رُكَامًا فَتَرَى الْوَدْقَ یَخْرُ جُ مِنْ خِلٰلِهٖۚ-وَ یُنَزِّلُ مِنَ السَّمَآءِ مِنْ جِبَالٍ فِیْهَا مِنْۢ بَرَدٍ فَیُصِیْبُ بِهٖ مَنْ یَّشَآءُ وَ یَصْرِفُهٗ عَنْ مَّنْ یَّشَآءُؕ-یَكَادُ سَنَا بَرْقِهٖ یَذْهَبُ بِالْاَبْصَارِﭤ(43)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Imaan

Have you not seen that Allah drives the cloud softly, then joins them together, (and) then piles them one over the other; you see the rain hence emerge from within them? And from the sky wherein are mountains of ice, He sends down from those (mountains of ice) some hailstone, then sends them upon whomever He wills, and averts them from whomsoever He wills. It is close that the flash of its lightning takes away eyesight.

Commentary

Exegetes have two opinions about this verse: 1. The heavens contain mountains of hail which Allah Almighty has created like this. Then He sends down as He wills from these mountains; 2. This does not refer to actual heavens, but to those clouds which are above the people, and it is due to this elevation that they are referred to as heavens because “samāʾ” refers to the object which is more elevated or above someone. Allah Almighty sends down hail from these clouds; these clouds are compared to mountains on account of their vastness, and when travelling in a plane, these clouds seem like mountains.
